Mrs. Cunningham is doing an analytical genre study with her inclusion class of sixth graders. She focuses her instruction on activating and expanding their prior knowledge about the structure and elements of fairy tales. She uses graphic organizers during the preparation phase, as well as during their partner reading and presentations. Prior to this lesson, Mrs. Cunningham and her students enjoyed two traditional versions of the Cinderella story, and discussed the characteristics and structure of the genre.
